Your health first!
Patients often ask if their health status can be checked without going to their medical practitioner. The answer is YES however, if you are feeling unwell it is recommended that you do go to your local doctor.
SCL and Northland Pathology offer a range of tests that may be self-requested providing you are aged 16 years or over.
What tests are available?
A list of the most common tests and their prices are show below. The following tests are not available:
- HIV
- Genetic and paternity tests
- Any cytology or histology
How do I go about making a request?
Request forms are available by visiting one of our conveniently located Patient Service Centres/Collection Centres. Simply complete your name, address and date of birth, and tests you are requiring.
Once your request form has been completed one of our trained staff members will take the required samples and send them for testing.
How will I get my results?
When completing your request form you can select to have your results either emailed or mailed to your nominated address. Please note that Healthscope takes no responsibility for the security of emailed results.
How will I know what the results mean?
We recommend that you consult your healthcare provider if you require interpretive advice.
Will my healthcare provider receive a copy of the results?
Not normally, but we may seek your authorisation to do so if your results are abnormal.
How do I pay?
Payment must be made at the time the sample is collected. Many of our Patient Service Centres/Collection Centres accept payment by EFTPOS or Credit Card. At sites where this facility is not available, payment must be made in cash, as we do not accept cheques.
